Jeff and I had the opportunity to go to Washington DC this Aug. Working for Jetblue has it perks, FREE FLIGHTS. We were also able to stay with Jeff's cousin Brett and Brynn and their wonderful family. They were very generous for letting us stay with them for the few days we were down there. The main reason we went was for Glenn Beck's 8/28 Restoring Honor Rally. It was reported that over 500,000 people attended, little crazy.

While we were in DC, we were able to go see the museums, Natural History, Air and Space, American History, and the Smithsonian Castle. We also went to the Arlington Cemetery and watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. Very Peaceful. The days went by so fast we weren't able to go see any of the monuments or the Pentagon and the 9/11 Memorial.
On our way down to the rally, we decided to take the Metro, Jeff's cousin lives 10 mins away from the Metro and about 30 from DC. We left their house around 8:30 and the rally was going to start at 10:00 we figured that would be enough time, we were WRONG. There was road construction on the freeway and the 3 lines turned into 1, plus with all the people going into the DC for the rally, it was crazy. We got to the Metro at 10:00, when the rally started, and we had to make our own parking spot. We waited in a 2 mile line before we could get on the Metro. We finally got to DC at 11:45, we missed Sarah Palin and a few other people, but it was still amazing to see all those people there caring about what is going on with our country.
So glad you guys got to go. I bet it was a blast. Too bad you missed Palin but at least you made it to the event.
